Can seagulls eat starfishes? I mean, I’ve seen them try to do it. Look at that, what is happening?? Oh my god!

I searched online for an answer, and apparently this sighting is pretty common [5][6][7][8][9][10].

There’s even a step-by-step guide for it on this website [1]. First you… get the starfish in your mouth, try to swallow it, then rest, then try to swallow it, then rest… then try to swallow it again… umm, I don’t know!

And according to the only study I found addressing this [2], they [herring gulls] gain about 37.5 grams per hour eating starfish [more than their other meals].

But isn’t this shocking? I know these websites [3][4] seem to think so. Okay, so blah blah blah blah blah… bruh, that’s a bit too far.
